SCM Presents on the Personal Side: Elderly Care

OCTOBER 2018 - Owner and manager of Assisting Hands Home Care, Judy Brady, discusses how seniors and their loved ones can avoid unnecessary liability when choosing a caregiver. Key topics discussed are (1) How to secure your family from legal and financial liabilities; (2) The risk factors between the employer model versus private hire, registry, and mixed models of home care service providers; (3) A cost value analysis between hiring an independent contractor and a certified company to provide at home care; (4) The latest market research on the senior demand for home care providers.

SCM's Senior Vice President of Personal Risk Management, Sadie Bailey, also covers (1) Homeowners Insurers concerns and procedures with respect to home care employees; and (2) Protecting vacant homes of a family member moving into an assisted living facility.

About the Speaker: Judy Brady is the owner/manager of Assisting Hands Home Care of Newport Beach, and a long-time resident of Orange County, California. Her background and experience is in Speech Pathology/Audiology and has resulted in a “hands on” management style. She saw the need for well trained, quality caregivers when she was faced with the needs of her own ailing parents. Judy realized that her personal criteria and requirements were more stringent than a typical home care agency could deliver. With this, Assisting Hands Home Care came to fruition, providing fully vetted, experienced, and well trained caregivers to serve a discriminating clientele.
